Giant paper magnolia flowers for the bridal shower and wedding

Hi guys! Sharing some paper flowers I am working on for my daughter's wedding.

She is a Southern girl and grew up climbing the magnolia tree by our house so now they are a part of her wedding.Although not many magnolia blooms in January so... I made giant paper ones. These are literally 3 sheets of cardstock, a foamcore circle, a spray painted pinecone, hot glue and a piece of wire..that's it! The far right one was magnolia prototype #1 so it is a bit wonky..I changed the outer petals to shorter and fatter on the rest. Always good to try ONE before cutting out a BUNCH!

I figured out my own pattern by looking at photos..3 layers of 3 petals in gradually smaller sizes. The middle stumped me for a minute. I was thinking of making a paper middle but then thought..pinecones! Close enough! We have them all up our driveway. These are sort of baby ones from a tree that went down. I spray painted them brushed nickel to match her wedding, but you could use any color..or glitter!Or both!Greenish yellow is the "regular" color.

I am going to add them to large arrangements of real magnolia leaves for the back altar..cost..almost free!

I think I will use 3 per arrangement. I am using a few at the bridal shower first for centerpieces there. I will share the how to later.

Another Harry Potter touch..golden snitches I made from Ferrero Rocher candy and some foil wings I made with silver wrapping paper. (I glued 2 pieces together so it is silver on both sides.) You could also use silver cardstock or silver glittered foam but I had the wrapping paper already! I just used a glue dot to attach.

Hope you are having a great week..stop back to see more! Comments loved, followers adored. Til next time! Julia

Rose Red clothespin paper flower wreath

Hi guys! This is my latest clothespin wreath. I had collected some really pretty scrapbook paper in aquas and reds and they sparked the idea for this wreath's theme.
Also, I remember when I was little going to my grandparent's church for a dinner and walking in the kitchen to see Gramma who was in there with a bunch of other ladies..all in dresses and aprons! I must have been young because they were tall. I remember perusing the buffet table with my cousin Greg, deciding what we were going to eat when time came. Two things I remember making an impression were macaroni salad with marshmallows and fruit cocktail and whipped cream in a big white Fire King bowl with red dots and a huge angelfood cake with sticky pale pink marshmallow frosting. I have since collected and been gifted a set (and a couple more) of those Fire King nesting bowls..some of my favorite items! (Thanks again Debbie!)
So here are the red dots and the pale pink!
The red roses I made from cardstock.
The pale pink rosebuds are made from cupcake liners because it was the only pale pink paper I had in the house that day! I like how they turned out.
The rest of the flowers have layers of vintage and antique sheet music (Mozart), vintage French lit pages, vintage French to English dictionary pages, vintage Jane Austen Pride and Prejudice pages (I always read as I snip!) and antique German bible study book pages. The middles are vintage mother of pearl buttons and pearly jewelry beads and bits with touches of pink glitter. I just could not hold back the glitter on this one!
The leaves are aqua paper encrusted with crystal glitter. I have a different one that I am working on flowers for now..different scheme of course. I will share it when it is done.
These are the flowers my daughter's boyfriend picked for her and left in her car while she was at work this weekend. Awwwww! My husband said he needs to tell him he is setting a bad example! I told him that is how it is SUPPOSED to be! LOL. Hope your week is filled with flowers! Til next time! Julia

Sheet music wedding flowers

Hi guys! I apologize for the gap in posts..I have had a horrible cold for the last week and a half! I'm getting back to work..things just pile up when Mom is sick! This is what I was working on today. These are some sheet music paper flowers I made for a wedding bouquet. These are made with the bride's personal sheet music. She picked pieces that held meaning for her... you can even see her notations on a couple.
The centers are silvery flashed crystal beads.

I like how the different "densities" of the music lend a different look to each layer...there is even a layer of musical "text".

Each one is different. One the edge of one of them, you can even see the words "All You Need Is Love"!

She is planning to mix these in her bouquet with real flowers and peacock feathers...I think they will look fab! Hoping your day is coming up roses.. Until next time! Julia
